You say drives.... is this a RAID unit with two drives or a single drive?

If it's two drives... Bad idea.

As for single drives I've done it twice, once it worked the second time.... not so much. The drive would mount but when you opened it in the finder the whole system crashed. Disc utility couldn't reformat it. Could have been something I did, or it might just have been it's time to move on.

I have a MyBook 1 TB External HD and want to open it up, take out the drives, and put it in my MacPro. is that possible without loosing the data?

Thanks.

The opposite of external is "internal".
I bet you're one of those maroons who say "irregardless" :(

I bet your one of the morons who say maroons instead of moron.

I bet you're one of the maroons who say "your" when they mean "you're", "you're" when they mean "your", "there" when they mean "their" or "they're", "their" when they mean "there" or "they're", as well as "they're" when they mean "there" or "their".

I could go on, but it's fairly evident that you can't argue grammar with me.

I wasn't arguing grammar, I was pointing out your spelling.
