Give the small set of new features (if you’re male), I am unsure if I should be upgrading this year.

Body temperature seems to be the only actual new feature. I don’t really care too much about crash detection.
My S7’s battery health is down to 92%. I guess, that’d be the main reason I am having second thoughts.

Do you think that body temperature sensor may turn out to be useful feature for general health tracking (for a male) with third party app support, etc.

Anyone having similar doubts on upgrading to S8?

If I had a S7, I wouldn't be upgrading to the S8. I don't think there are enough added features to make it worthwhile. But some like to have the latest and greatest and it's worth it to them.

Yeah, not enough for a S7 to 8 upgrade.

If the Ultra wasn't an option I wouldn't have bought a new watch this year which would have been a first for me.

I wanted to upgrade and even even preordered. For me the international Roaming was the most interesting.
After that I realised to spend 800 Bucks just for that makes no sense even when my Battery is down to 90%.

I cancelled and a few hours later I read that all Apple Watches from 5 on will get international Roaming. So I will definitely wait. Also Ultra is not an option for me. I really don`t like the design. Maybe I need to see it first in RL but it is overkill anyway.

Heck, I have an S6 SBTi and am not seeing any real reason to upgrade to S8...

Apple really screwed the pooch on Series 8 this year. It's practically the same watch as Series 7 with the exception of new sensors.

First time ever, after having bought every single watch released, that I will be standing down and waiting to see what changes are made to Series 9.

I do. Body temp is a core diagnostic. But if you are in reasonably good health, I’d probably stick with your S7. Body temp sensor and S8 chip are nice to have, not must-haves if you already own Apple Watch.

Do you know what’s new with S8 chip over S7 chip?
Going through the technical specs, it seems that Bluetooth 5.3 is supported by the Ultra model only. Regular S8 doesn’t even get any Bluetooth upgrade over S7.

Actually I preordered it but still thinking about it.
I have a natural Ti 41mm S7 with 89% of battery health (yes, this kills me) and was willing to change to SS, specially the graphite version (I have been the whole year regreting for not getting SS instead of Ti, which is nice, but misses the shine). So I preoredered S8 SS graphite, but the delivery date was kinda late (just 5 min after the keynote!): Sep 30-Oct 10. So I guess I have time to cancel it or not...
I know it will be more like a aestethic upgrade than a proper one, but I may be happy with that :)

And yes, my wrist is pretty small (size 3 of solo loop) so no Ultra for me for sure LOL

I would not.

It's obviously not the same watch but the new features are relatively insignificant, especially if you're male. I'm sticking with me SE and will see what the S9 brings.
