I was thinking it would be interesting to change my iPhone's home button color to white (I have a black/slate iPhone 5), and I saw that Bodygaurdz sells home button sticker sets. The stickers seem to compensate for the raised height of a screen when a glass protector is installed.

How well do these stickers work, and what problems, if any, can they cause?

They work pretty well as it saves your home button from getting dirty and it helps a lot if you have those glass screen protector.

I've used home buttons from Spigen and BodyGuardz. Go with Spigen aluminum home button. You can buy from Amazon.

...

OK, I have to ask. I don't remember the last time I check to see if my home button is dirty. I just looked at it and it's not dirty. If it is, it is the easiest thing to clean due to the material being sapphire. A wipe with my shirt will clean it.

A home button sticker is probably made out of vinyl which I think would attract dirt and grease easier than the naked home button. So it seems to be a problem looking for a problem, unless you want to change the color of the button itself.

But if you use a glass screen protector then a home button cover is needed to make it level with the rest of the screen.

The are pretty amazing.

I've used spigen aluminium home button on my wife's iphone 5 earlier.

Also I have one in my mom's iPad mini and iPhone 3GS.

Just a few days back I got a home button which mimics look of Touch ID of 5s and applied on my wife's iphone 5. It's pretty amazing.

And works better if u have a glass screen protector as the level of glass and home button aligns.

...I also use one on my slate iPhone 5! I have an SGP Glass TR screen shield (one of the original thicker versions) and I initially found the home button on the iPhone very deep with the screen shield on. I then installed an SGP aluminum button which solved this issue (its literally just the aluminum button with a felt sticker on the back) so now the button is exactly the same level as the screen - which feels a lot nicer than having a naked screen with the dip of the naked home button!

I will say this though about home button stickers (from my experience) - they are a bugger to get off! You can't just pull them off for fear off pulling the actual home button out as well! I had to be very very gentle with my previous 'jelly bean' style home buttons and even then, they left a sticky messy residue on the home button which took me ages to scrub and wipe off....!!
