I use the plugin (HTTPMail) to send/receive Hotmail email via the OSX Mail application. Over the past couple of days, it hasn't been able to receive email, but can send it, without issue.

Is anyone else having this problem?

EDIT: Sorry ADMIN. I meant to put this in another forum.

Here's an answer posted at Versiontracker.com from Timothy Smith (presumably the programmer):

As of June 30th 2008, my plugin will cease to function as Microsoft has decided to terminate HTTPMail (also known as WebDav) protocol access. They have replaced this protocol has been replaced by a new one called DeltaSync. Unfortunately DeltaSync is undocumented and uses non-standard compression and encryption of message data. Until these issues can be resolved there is nothing I can do to fix my plugin.

If you have a Hotmail Plus account you should still be able to access your mail using the POP3 protocol. The details for setting up POP3 access is as follows.

Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com (port 995)
Outgoing mail server: smtp.live.com (port 25)

Username: your full hotmail email address

NOTE: the outgoing mail server requires authentication

Thanks...

Between this and Safari being unable to directly access Hotmail, I'm at a loss (Hotmail is my primary email account). I'm not really a huge fan of Firefox.

Thanks for the info.

Isn't this just great...

You know... I was wondering why this was happening to me. This really sucks because... well, I've been using hotmail for years now. I guess it gives me a reason to switch from hotmail to something else.

If anyone is interested;

If you have Microsoft Entourage (basically Microsoft Outlook for Mac), which is bundled with Office, it can be configured to send/receive Hotmail.

Start switching. Hotmail just doesn't stand up to the likes of gmail anymore :)

I personally love Hotmail and have been using the same account for the better part of a decade. Their default spam protection is unmatched, in comparison to my Gmail accounts (one of which I've never even used), and I never even set up any rules for it.

Gmail offers more space; but who needs a terabyte for email anyway?
