Just wondering if this is a bad idea or not. I'd like to not have an external hard drive hanging off the side of my MacBook but I'm not sure Final Cup Pro X would run very well with my files sitting on a NAS.

not with that exact setup... but I was not exactly happy with Sony Vegas pro and my NAS (5400rpm drives) with my Dell . I'm planning to get a G-Raid w/ Thunderbolt (7200rpm drives) in the near future.. and will plug into it via TB when I need to do video.

As long as you are running off ethernet and not wifi there is no reason you can't run from a NAS...this is what all studios do. I've never worked locally, anywhere I've worked.

Good to know. Thanks for the replies everyone. I will use the NAS purely for backup then and keep the videos on an external USB 3.0 drive.

Cheers, James
