Recently my friends ibook has had some problems and would freeze constantly. He brought it to apple and they determined it was the hdd and would need replacing. Apple quoted him about $350 for a new drive/instalation. (its an old ibook i think 800/866 w/ 512 ram.)
Would it be worth it to have it fixed or just get a macbook. I was thinking asking tekserve what they would charge for the repair. Anyone use them or hear anything about them?

It would probably be more worth it to buy a new computer. I don't know how a hard drive could cause freezing so there is always the risk it's something more serious such as the logic board failing. Sure would be bad to shell out $350 for a new hard drive only to find out that did not fix the problem;)

that's what i was thinking. But i was just wonder if it was gonna see if it cost like $150 or less to have as a back up computer or something.
Anyone have any service done by them before? good/bad?
