in monterey, the app worked perfectly, but now it wont startup upon reboot, no matter how many times i deleted the app rebooted my mac and reinstalled it, it will not load upon start up, i searched google and found a few solutions that dont work at all.

also, yes i have checked the option to load upon start up. it seems to always stay unchecked when i restart my mac.

has anyone got it to work?

I don't run Ventura, so I cannot tell about that OS, but I have been using Amphetamine for quite some time with no problems. I run it on a 6,1 with Monterey, and on some older Mac Pro computers, using El Capitan and Mojave. Have you tried the list of apps that work and don't work on Ventura?

no i have not, i hae actually considered trying another type of app like amphetamine, and wait until the developer updates the app.

I actually have this same issue since upgrading to Ventura. I assumed it was because I was running Ventura on an unsupported Mac (MacBook Air 2012), but I'm glad to hear it isn't just me. As you can see, I do have Amphetamine in login items but even after removing it and adding it several times it still just doesn't open at login. Once logged in you can open Amphetamine and it functions as it should except opening at login.

I'm going to just bite the bullet and buy something else that probably just works.

What program will you be buying?

Wanted to chime in. Downloaded Amphetamine from the app store, it runs fine, but fails to start on login. I made sure the "start at login" option was selected in preferences for the app, and confirmed it's listed in Login Items, but no dice. Free app so it was trivial to do a bit of testing. Definitely seems like an app bug if I can duplicate it on an M2 Air and folks on OCLP Ventura are seeing the same thing.

Looks like a super useful app though, so thanks for bringing it to my attention.

You could try this workaround until the app itself is updated. For apps that haven't caught up with Ventura startup methods, fail to load at login but still work ok, create an app using automator that pauses (for 10-15 seconds) then starts the "failed" apps. It is simply a matter of adding the app loader you created to the login items in system settings. Tested on amphetamine and it works fine. The only automator commands required are Pause and Launch Application.

I've been using Amphetamine for many years - it's one of my favorite utilities. I too could not get it to load at startup in Ventura. I kept checking this option in the app's preferences, but after every restart, it wouldn't load, and this option reverted to unchecked in the app's preferences.

After confirming that Amphetamine was indeed listed in 'Login Items' in System Settings, I removed it and re-added it and it's been loading at startup ever since. So I am thinking that this just overrides the app's built in option to have it load at startup. It looks like others here have tried this and it didn't work, so I am not sure why mine is sticking.

One thing I did notice is that when I removed the original entry for this app in 'Login Items', it had a blank file-like icon. After re-adding it, it shows the proper app icon, and this icon persists with each restart.

It is loading here as a regular login item via System Settings, working on 2 x Intel MBP on 13.1. The app startup preference does not appear to work.

can you share the automator file?
