The Epson Workforce 3540 has two large paper trays, each that can hold 250 pages. The main, top one is numbered 1, and the auxilliary is 2. From the print settings, you can choose which you want to print from. I'm having the following problem, that I can't see a solution for:
So if you thought you could put normal paper in one tray and a smaller size paper in the other, and pick which you want to use, you are screwed. Because iOS will only print to Tray 1, which they forced you to put the custom odd sized paper in. Why on earth would the default not go to the one that only uses standard sized paper?
If anyone has found a way to change the default on the printer itself (so that iOS uses that as default)... please help!
- Epson's website states that on a PC, you can change the default settings (so you can choose which tray it prints from by default). On a Mac, it says that you can create and name "Presets," but you cannot change the default settings. So you can create a preset that uses the tray you prefer. Furthermore, you can select a check box that tells it remain on any preset you have printed from until you change it to something else. This works So Long as Printing From the Computer. If you use Airprint to print from any iOS device, it has no idea what presets your computer was on, and will just use the default (tray 1).
- Tray 1 is the only tray that allows you to put a variety of paper sizes. Tray 2 seems intended only for standard paper or legal paper, and does not allow smaller sizes (so no 4 x 6, half sheet, etc.).
