I'm browsing Newegg and the Cruial "mac" memory seems to have a lot of negative reviews. I looked at the G Skill (linked below) and people seem to say good things about it.

Anyone have 16gb GS in your MBP?

Also, the timing on the GS is 9-9-9. The from what I've read, 9-9-9-24 is what you're supposed to get, is this true, does it matter?

Thank you

G.skill makes good memory. I've used it in older MBPs, but not the 2011 model.

FYI, this is the same stuff it just isn't "Apple RAM." The only difference is the extra $10 that they'll charge you for the Apple stuff. 4 of the 10 reviews on the first page are from Mac owners. 3 of those 4 reviews are from owners with 2011 models.

*Edit* Looks like newegg has an additional $10 off promo code. An even better reason to buy it instead of the "Apple" stuff.

g.skill is usually in the list of RAM I suggest along with Corsair and Crucial. They all make good stuff.

I am, had an 8 gig kit when I first bought my macbook and upgraded to the 16gb kit when the prices came down. No issues with either.

already ordered the other for 58 shipped but thanks though. Still happy at 58 for it.

I a few weeks back I bought my Samsung 830 for $162, the next day another retailer had it for $160. The day after that it was $155. All three deals were awesome.

I'll just note that the kit you bought had more reviews from Mac users and just more reviews in general. I probably would have spent the extra $8 too, just for the added piece of mind.

damn, was it the 256gb you got? I got mine for like $209 shipped or something like that like 4 months ago.

Sweet deal, and thanks again for the heads up in your initial post :D
