This question is for those who only have 1 upgrade to a iPhone 5 and selling there iphone means they either have to use there iphone 4 or some other phone for two years. I'm sort of considering it since the profit is crazy and kind of worth it since my iphone 4 still runs great. I would just like to hear some thoughts and opinions.

Yes. I ordered my iPhone 5 and then saw the ridiculous prices they're selling for on eBay. I ordered mine full price, paid $700, sold it for $950. After I saw the potential i bought 3 more from craigslist sellers, ranging from $6-700. Already sold those as well. Have made about a $800 profit. Just enough to get myself a new iPhone 5 and letting me keep my unlimited data for Verizon.

I'd consider it....

I think people did the math and you should just add another line as a family member and it will e cheaper

I only paid $600 for the iPhone that i kept for myself and still pocketed $200. All said and done, I made $200 and got myself a new iPhone. I saved myself the hassle of adding a line then canceling, which really only saves you $50.

People are idiots or have eBay credit they need to get rid of.

In the USA. No one should pay more than retail $650-750-850 plus taxes prices for iPhone 5.

I texted a guy on Craigslist. He was trying to sell unlocked Galaxy S3 (u can buy it for $580 on amazon directly no tax). Guy told me he found people willing to trade their iPhone 5 32gb ($750 value) for his $580 phone.

He said people than would pay him $900 for the iPhone 5 32gb. So he ends up making a $300 plus profit from trading the S3 for ip5 32gb and flipping it for sell.

Just dumb people in the world. They are a dime a dozen.

Was this on the week of launch because prices have dies down at the moment

to the OP, if you need the money it is a great idea. I did it with the ps3/xbox since I don't game. Made a $1000 profit on a single ps3 on launch day, and $800 on the 360.

not adding a line and canceling.. adding a line.. $199. then paying $10 a month for that line for the next 24 moths.. saves you about $250

if you are with att sell it and then open another line to buy another one.(as long as your not mobile share) When you switch the iphone 5 back to your original line the new line winds up costing you only $10 a month. even taking out the 240 extra over 2 years you will wind up making a nice sum of money. Then you can do it again when the 6 comes out too.:D

I am thinking about doing this. I have a black ATT 64 gig that is flawless. I could easily sell it and make a huge profit. Then just steal my girlfriends upgrade(hey its my account lol)and she can keep using her iphone 4.

The thing is though, I hate using ebay. I tried to sell my 4s on there recently and some guy from dubai won the auction and didnt want to pay up. Even when I said United States shipping only. Its just a frustrating process.

How much do you guys think I could get on Craigslist?

Ahh i see 64gb, i only have a 16gb and it goes for around 800 on eBay

Actually 16 GB iPhone 5's with a buy it now are selling for an average of $950 to $1000 on completed auctions this morning. I have one for sale for $999 and its received 140 views in 11 hours so people still out there wanting this phone pretty bad.

64gig 5's that have like 1 hour left are barely topping 1000... Link to your auction or I call bs.

Yeah its pretty sad. But hey, thats what happens when demand is so high. People are willing to pay a higher price than usual but what they dont realize is they just need to scout around or just wait and they could save hundreds!!

How come no for sale section on macrumors?

There is a for sale section on macrumors. It's called marketplace. You need 250+ posts and need to be a member for at least 6 months. Just dont expect to sell your iPhone 5 at ridiculous prices like eBay. Everyone here is well aware what they're worth.

Before I got mine from the reservation system I was looking at them on eBay and noticed the crazy high prices.

I just moved my tablets (and 3 phones) to a Verizon share plan and thus had two upgrades on tablet lines that will likely always remain tablet lines.

When I got lucky on the reservation system for my phone I tried again right away and got lucky again with a 16GB model and used the tablet line as the upgrade.

I picked up the phones, called Verizon, switched the 16GB back to my tablet, promptly put it up on eBay and it sold for $910 to someone down in FL. That paid for my family's switch to Verizon (activation fees), my Sprint cancellation, my 32GB iPhone and still put a little over $100 in savings.

It's curious, the person I sold the phone to had a lot of recent iPhone 5 bought feedback so I wonder what the heck they are doing with them all. I guess selling them internationally for a lot more, must be lucrative.

One of the buyers for my phone had the same thing. I actually asked him about it and he told he ships them to a friend overseas who resells them for thousands more than retail.

Figured I'd help out with this one. Go to your "site preferences" on your my ebay and change your buyer settings to no international buyers. This will not all any one from outside your country to even bid on it. Also I changed my requirements to buyers with a paypal account. Had a lot of success since then.

Look its pretty simple go to ebay and search for Iphone 5 16 gb unlocked. That will bring you to screen that is just for the iphone 5 click the options you want and then on the left side refine the search to completed auctions only then choose buy it now only and see recently ended first. This will bring up all the iphones sold most recently using buy it now. When I looked the morning they were some that had sold in the the $800's but most where in the high mid to high $900's and some where over $1000 making the average about $1,000 in my estimation. One guy sold his 16gb iphone 5 for $1,500. Now whether these auctions actually get paid that's another story. My 16GB black just sold for $999 but lets see if the guy actually pays now. Also if those 64 GB iphones are regular auctions alot of the bidding takes place in the last 5 minutes so those will most likley shoot up in price. I am talking about fixed price auctions only where you list for the price you want and there is no bidding. For whats its worth here is the link to my sold auction for $999. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281009743028?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1562.l2649
