I'm very seriously considering getting a Timbuk2 Commute 2.0 Messenger Bag. I'm curious about just a couple of things though. I have a 13" MBP and I'd like to use a laptop sleeve that I already have in addition to the Timbuk2 case.

I'd like to pick a Timbuk2 bag with a size large enough to fit my MBP with it's sleave, but small enough that the MBP fits relatively snugly if used without the sleeve. Basically, should I get the small or medium bag? (I think I can pretty much rule out the large.)

I realize that Timbuk2 has pretty good sizing guides but I'm looking for somebody who has first hand experience with one of these bags.

I don't have that bag but my co-worker does, he has a 2008 Aluminum MacBook, same size as your Pro, and a sleeve and it fits snug but it a good fit.

Can you ask him which size bag he has? I would appreciate it.

I have a different bag. A classic Timbuk2... and the Medium fits a 15" Pro without sleeve quite snuggly. I'd guess that the Small would fit a 13" Pro snuggly as well.

You can go by Best Buy and check them out. It has lots of compartments and should fit your 13in with a sleeve.

I like using my Tucano sleeve with my Timbuk2 bag just incase something spills on it. Especially when it rains, for extra protection. Go with the one that fits the 15in. With my bag its a tight fit. I can still put my hand down the side and pull it out. Also, store the cables, if need be. I have the Timbuk2 Blogger and Classic Messengers.

I have the same bag, it's the medium size. My 15" MBP with it's Waterfield sleeve fits just right.

You could use either the small or medium depending on how thick your sleeve is. Personally if I were you I'd get the medium. These are very nice cases with very high quality & excellent workmanship.
