I got an SCX-4600 multifunction printer/ scanner and it was listed as scanning at up to1200dpi (optically, and higher with artificial magnification)

Well I can only scan at 600dpi max. There are no options to scan at any higher resolution.

Background:
I was able to test my SCX-4600 on an Windows XP computer and it does have the option to scan to 1200dpi (and higher) and the scans are great.

After multiple emails I phoned Samsung (UK) tech support and they are pathetic. The girl I spoke to confirmed that the printer does scan to 1200dpi on Windows -she tested it on their sample model there and then. I asked her would she confirm the same on OS X 10.6 seeing as Samusng sell the printer for OS X 10.6.

She said she couldn't do that! She said it was not possible for anyone in Samsung tech support to attach a Mac to a test printer and confirm my issue! Which is just incredible.

While I am (quite) pleased with the printer excluding this issue, I am really surprised and disappointed at the extremely poor support Samsung provide for OS X. If I was buying it again I would definitely think twice about buying a Samsung (for OS X)

Cut to the chase:
Anyway, if someone has an SCX-4600 could you please verify if you can scan at 1200dpi under OS X (preferably 10.6 but any OS X will do)?

Thank you. :)
