I have one iPhone XR which I brought about three month ago and it is sitting on the drawer. I am not big fan of FaceID, because half of the time FaceID will fail due to wrong angle. So I am carrying with iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 7.

Since the iPhone XR is collecting the dust, I might as well sell it and buy iPhone 11. I am not a big photo guy, so the improvement on camera really doesn’t matter to me that much. The iPhone 8 Plus camera is good enough for my family photo. I think it is good enough for my about born baby.

Beside the camera upgrade, I don’t see much of upgrade from iPhone XR. I am still debating if I should just keep my XR and wait for next year’s update.

iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max is out of question, since the cheapest iPhone 11 Pro is about 1500CAD after tax. It is just not justifiable for me to spend that kind of money.

Any one who upgrade from iPhone XR to the new iPhone 11? How is your impression when comparing with iPhone XR?

Many thanks

I got the XR before Fridays 11 Launch due to it being $599 but I returned it for the the 11. Physically it feels exactly the same, but I feel the speed bump of the A13 and 4GB of RAM compared to A12 and 3GB on the XR. Speaker sounds a little better (sound has better left and right channel separation), and of course the camera is a noticeable improvement over the XR.

Have you turned off Require Attention for FaceID? You can leave Attention Aware features on.

I am upgrading my XR to an 11 today.

OP: I guess I don’t understand. You don’t like faceID, so you don’t use your Xr... so why would you get an 11? It sounds like your 8+ is meeting all your needs, and the 11 really doesn’t improve on the Xr in any way that would be meaningful to you.

Neither the 11 nor the Max meaningfully increases unlock angles from my 48 hour+ experience.

If you want Touch ID, wait for its return in 2020 or 2021.

If you're not interested in the camera, there's no point to upgrading this year.

So you don't use your XR because you don't like Face ID and you're not much of a camera person! Hmmmm.

The main reason to upgrade to the 11 would be the camera upgrade it offers so in your case just leave your XR gathering dust and keep your money in the bank.

It would be a pointless upgrade for you.

Thanks. Yeah, I am not big fan of FaceID, I wish it is more like the one on the iPad Pro. I have less issues with iPad Pro.

Anyway, I will keep the XR, until next year. Maybe they will bumping iPhone 12 to all OLED.

Thanks. If Apple would put make iPhone’s FaceID more like iPad Pro, I would have no problem with FaceID on iPhone. I will wait for next year and see how Apple improves FaceID on next generation.
