I've tried a couple tutorials and there are a couple more but maybe someone has some advice as to the best way in their experience to get an HDR style image out of a single shot.

I have Photoshop and have some RAW files that I can work with, but also would like to apply this to many jpegs. The first tutorial I was following was going fine, but then it got very vague and I couldn't follow it.

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

Open the RAW in ACR, make your adjustments for exposing for the shadows, then save it instead of opening it (renaming it of course). Do the same for the highlights & go to town with your adjusted RAWs. As far as JPEGs, I'm pretty sure you need a program like Photomatrix, but obviously you don't have the exposure latitude as with RAW files. Hope it helps.
