T-Mobile isn't supposed to receive the spectrum until April from what I hear. I know a majority of it is going to be for data roaming on AT&T's network but I highly doubt people are getting 3G speeds on the iPhone on T-Mobile's network now since it has only been a few days since they withdrew the merger application.

Does this mean you're on an iPhone on T-Mobile near NYC, or just on your otherwise Smartphone near NYC...

Smartphone in and around NYC, it's not even a 4g device but 3g only and the speeds were already good and seem to have gotten better.
iphone is still getting edge speeds in NYC.

340 kilobits per second isn't horrible if that's EDGE. It's certainly not great, either, but I would consider that to save $50 per month. I'm near wifi almost always except while I'm at work, and I can't use my phone at work anyway except on a few breaks, and if I needed data in a pinch, that would be fine.

And with all this spectrum refarming, T-Mobile may yet bring 3G to my area within the next few months.
