Hi, I found this issue in Mac OS X 10.5.x:

After you download a software from internet in Safari, let's say a DMG file, then you open it and drag the application to /Application folder, when you open the application there will be dialog says "this file is downloaded from internet blabla..." also says the time and the source url (e.g Safari downloaded this file today st 12:00 PM from www.bean-osx.com) and a "Show web page" button normally. I like the way you as I can see where the file comes from, whether you trust it or not.

But if I move the DMGs to a FAT32 external hard drive, then you install the applications from there then when you open an application you just installed it does show the dialog as well but there isn't any source url (where the file comes from). I am sure there are Apple double format files in the FAT32 drive I see them in Windows XP.

If I use a HFS+ external hard drive you doing the same thing, then it will show you everything with source url as well. But if you clean reinstalled your Leopard, then plug the HFS+ hard drive in and doing the things above then you will loose the source url again. How wired!!

Hopefully I explained it clearly. Any body knows why??

Thanks.
