I have my iMac connected through the 'ol standard Linksys G router. I am getting download speeds between 9mbs and 11mbs. I am supposed to be getting 16mbs. Is there anything I can do to get the fastest speeds possible from my ISP? Would a different router help?

16Mb/s is the theoretical maximum, thus it's likely that you won't get speed like that. What you could do is to connect your Mac via Ethernet cable directly to the modem and see if it's any better. If it is, then the router is the bottleneck.

Yeah, it's either the limit of your wireless, or more likely that ISPs don't have the bandwidth to supply everyone with their max speed constantly.
