Anyway to make extra desktops independent from one another?

For example, if I'm playing a game on fullscreen (Guild Wars 2) for example on a second desktop screen on one monitor, is there anyway I can make it so I can swipe back and forth between desktops? Basically I just want a easier way to multitask. As of now, alt-tabbing between programs takes a long time when something is on fullscreen and loading back the game is a pain.

It would be possible if the GW2 Mac client would properly implement the corresponding API protocols. But it does not, alas.

BTW, we should consider ourselves lucky that we can even alt-tab out of the client! I know some Mac game ports where alt tab does not work and the only way to get to other app is to quit the game!
