Anyway to mark messages or notifications on the lock screen to dismiss them?

I would like to be able to dismiss email and text notifications and have the message be marked as "read" on iOS 5, in the lock and notifications panel- anyone know how to do this?

I don't see a way on the lockscreen...

Go to settings, notifications, and de-select the notifications.
