Anyway to Prevent Dock from Displaying Most Recently Opened Apps?

Attaching a photo to show the dock and the right most apps being my most recently opened apps.

I don't need them there and don't care for them very much being on the dock.

Wouldn't mind going back to the good old days when something like this wasn't imposed on me.

System preferences > Dock > uncheck ”show recent applications in dock”

Dock recents also existed in Mojave. It was on by default in Mojave as well.

I haven’t clean installed 14 lately, I hadn’t realized that wasn't a 15 feature.
