Anyway to trick a working install of 10.7 or 10.8 on a Core Duo Macbook?

Scored this mint Macbook on Jacksonville craigslist for $125. Sells on eBay for twice that. Even has the Panda mod! Swapped out the 100gb for a 500gb.

Cool Macbook, never seen that before, though I haven't had a Macbook long.

I'm pretty sure that it's not possible, I think your stuck with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 which is still pretty good and you can do a lot with SL, it's what I'm using right now.

Question: What are you not getting out of Snow Leopard or Leopard that you aren't getting right now?

probably not missing anything, I just have a need for the latest and greatest OS, and it burns my arse that Apple won't support it.

You wouldn't want Lion anyways, I've heard you would take a performance hit over Snow Leopard. Although I heard Mountain Lion is much better than Lion in performance.

You need Rosetta installed to be able to do that which you can't really get unless someone gives it to you.

Yeah and just to add in that when you first open a PowerPC app, SL will download and install Rosetta from Apple's servers as well ;)

Apple stopped the dowloading of Rosetta some time ago...

Manual installation into Snow Leopard from the Mac OS X Snow Leopard Install DVD is the only commonly available option now. Apple sells SL and SLS for $19.99 + sales tax & shipping by telephone orders only on the Apple Store.

Then I stand corrected.

I saw some posts about this problem some months ago on the Apple Support Forum, deleted Rosetta on my SL Mac Mini and launched a PowerPC app.

I was unable to get Rosetta re-installed over the internet (yes, it was connected), so I began to report this change.

I should go back and try it myself again before I cry "Uncle!"...

SL is plenty fast, but I would give up all that speed if I could just resize a window from any corner!

The Panda mod is when a black MacBook is mixed with a White MacBook (i.e. the top case of a black MacBook is added to the bottom case of a white MacBook)

Wasn't that illegal in some States in the USA until the US Supreme Court's ruling in Loving vs. Virginia (1967)? :D
