Anyone have a solution to fix why my Airport Extreme is showing only mac address or ip's for the wireless clients using the ap utility?

I have all my IOS devices defined with hostnames > general > about

Thanks

That's normal. Airport Utility has always showed just the MAC address and IP address when viewing connected wireless clients, never the hostname.

I recall seeing the client name showing in the past.

AirPort Utility 6 and the mobile AirPort Utility generally report a "name" and if one is not specified will display the IP address. I can provide screenshots as evidence if necessary. ;)

What version of AirPort Utility are you using? If on a Mac, click "AirPort Utility" --> About AirPort Utility.

Airport Utility on iOS has never showed hostnames for me nor has any version of Mac OS X Airport Utility. No loss to me as I identify and know my devices based on their MAC addresses.

Tomorrow at school I will screenshot some of the APs in AirPort Utility. Is your AirPort in DHCP and NAT mode?

For me, on both iOS 8.0.2, and OS X 10.9.5, AirPort Utility displays Wireless Clients (by name), IP addresses, connection quality, and MAC addresses.

AirPort Utility on Mac is 6.3.2. On iOS it's v1.3.4 (134.22)

Mine shows the device names on AU 6.3.2.
