I have configured my Mac Pro to communicate with the APC via USB cable to initiate a shutdown through the Energy Saver settings in System Preferences. But what happens when there's a power outage and my Mac Pro is in Sleep Mode? Correct me if I'm wrong but logic tells me that if the Mac Pro is in Sleep Mode it will not be able to communicate with the UPS to initiate a shutdown. Thanks. Comments are welcome.

Turn off the APC at the plug socket and you will have your answer :)
You can easily flip it back on after a couple of seconds.

From experience....I previously had an APC UPS, but found when my mac was sleeping, if there was a surge and the UPS kicked in for a micro second it would wake up.
I have since changed to CyberPower UPS’s, which dont have this issue (possibly the pure sinewave).
