The A230 ARW files are not supported by Apple RAW 2/Aperture 2.
I have been using the free (from when it still new) converter from aperture-converter.com/. Everyone now and again I have seen the "Unsupported Image Format" when clicking on an old project by accident and not looked into it. Now today every image in Aperture is displaying it.

I have tried rebuilding the library and the consistency check. No luck.
Will purchasing iPhone 09 (£8.99 on the new app store) give me the RAW 3 update for use in Aperture 2?

I thought Apple included (and updated) their RAW file decoders in the OS. What version of OS X have you got?

They do. But they also have some way of locking certain updates from working with older versions of Aperture/iPhoto. I'm not convinced the OPs way of getting round this will work.

OP: I'd suggest upgrading to Aperture 3. It's so much better than 2...
