New York, Baby!
So I'm finally starting to use Aperture and I'm wondering how I should organize it.

My main types of photos at the moment would be:

-(My) Family (portraits and events)
-Friends (p + e)
-City photos
-Sports
-Cars
-Landscape

How should I organize my photos to both make sense and make better use of my limitied hardware resources?

Thanks,

Steve

What you listed would be better suited for keywords/tags IMO.

The way I organize my photos in Aperture is:

- Year
-- Event
--- Day of Event (if multiple days)

Example:

- 2010
-- Hawaii Vacation
--- Vacation Day 1

From that point you can go through each event and add keywords like Location, People in the picture, Picture Style (Landscape, Macro, etc), Category, etc. Then just make Smart Albums based on your keywords according to how you want to view your pictures.

Set up multiple libraries such that each library contains no more than 10K or so images. This insurance against library corruption (spreads your risk). It will also keep Aperture snappy.
