Two questions for Aperture 3 users.

I just upgraded the iMac from Aperture 2 and installed a fresh copy of 3 on the new MBP. Last night I learned of Aperture 3's ability to open a library over the network. Last night I used the new copy of 3 on the laptop with no library to navigate to the library on the iMac and open it. Worked pretty well. There was a little lag but that was probably just 3.

My question is...has anyone ran into any pitfalls while doing this? Any corrupted libraries? Edits or changes not sticking...things like that? I'm not looking for any kind of workflow. I know there are some new ways that A3 can import and export without creating duplicate images. I want to keep the library on the iMac and just use the laptop to work in that library when the iMac is not available. Obviously, offsite the MBP would have no library.

Last question. Anyone having trouble installing plugins in A3? I tried to update my fresh MBP copy of A3 with all the plugins I use but I could not get any of them to install. Not sure if it was something I was doing or some issue with A3.

Thanks,

I don't know about your first question, but as for your second I'd make sure that all of the plug-ins are supported under Aperture 3. Also double check that they're in the right spot, Aperture 2 and 3 might store them in different places. They're stored in /Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins

Thanks. It turns out the problem was my ineptitude. The plugins are working fine again. For anyone that uses the Zenfolio plugin, apparently you have to update to the 64 bit plugin for it to work in A3.

Just FYI that sharing of my iMac A3 library with my MBP seems to be going just fine. I sure hope they keep updating A3 though and get some of this sluggishness out of it.

Of course, I totally forgot that Aperture 3 uses 64-bit plug-ins.

And that's great that the library sharing is working out well.
