I love Aperture 3. I really do. It can do many things that take much longer to do in Photoshop. However, Aperture 3 COULD NOT BE SLOWER. Does anyone else experience this? I feel like I'm switching back to Vista every time I open it. It makes me want to throw my Macbook Pro at the wall.

Also, ever since I installed Aperture 3 on Mac, the REST of my Mac is much slower, even when Aperture 3 isn't even in use. I don't understand it.

I really hope that an update addresses this issue.

Do other people have this happen too?

Would switching to 4GB DDR3 ram help significantly?

Nope, mine seems pretty snappy© Heck, I've been able to run vmware and aperture and performance is decent

Really? Hmm. Maybe it is just a ram issue. I need to buy more soon anyways.

Also, does anyone have tricks to speed it up?

Turning off faces to me is key even on my MacPro. I'd say otherwise it has been decent on resources.

I just disabled "faces," and that seemed to speed it up significantly.

There is apparently a bug in faces causing it to endlessly search in unrendered photos and start writing to disk when it runs out of RAM. Hopefully they fix it soon, it was even enough to bring my Mac Pro to it's knees

Yeah, I failed to mention that I don't use faces (as i think its a useless feature that's just eye candy /rant)

Ok. Ya I agree. I think faces is pointless. It's just a pain to setup since you have to "confirm" most pictures.

Once you get over the hump (converting your old library), it works well. I think there's a marked performance improvement except for when it comes to working with GPS log files...

Aperture is running great on my MBP and MP. Faces doesn't seem to be killing my machines. Works just like Aperture 2.
