Aperture: Deleting photos doesn't affect Library size?

Hello all,
I recently added more than 3000 photos to Aperture library. The size of the library was around 4,94 Gbytes. Although a deleted many bad or unwanted photos from the library (some 700 photos - now I have 2300 photos), the library still has almost the same size as before. Was 4,94Gb, is 4,94Gb after deleting photos!

Is it strange? Is there a command to compact the database?

I haven't used Aperture but if it's anything like iPhoto then you may need to empty the trash.
