I am having trouble figuring out a way to get aperture to reference my pictures in the folders I have them in. They currently live on an external drive in one folder, that is then broken into subfolders, and then folders in those, and then finally the pictures. On apple's website in the quicktours for aperture it says that you can import(I want them referenced, I do not want the master images kept in the Aperture Library) pictures and keep them in the file order that they currently reside in.
When I do import them, after choosing 'import>folders into projects' all my images are put into one project, and then the first layer of subfolders are under those, but the folders in those folders do not appear even when I click on the subfolders. Also, all the pictures import because I can see them if I click on the large projects folder, but if I click on the subfolders the browser only displays the title of the folder, it doesn't display the pictures that should be in it.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help.
