I moved to the Mac after using windows for years. I have 1000's of photos and I use to use paintshop pro for photo editing and it had a great feature called the image basket were you could drag photos form any folder to the basket and then edit them,copy them or what ever. I spent all day trying to figure out how to this in aperture with no luck. Any ideas? Thank for your help.

Well Paintshop Pro and Aperture are two different types of applications. PSP is an editor, and Aperture, while having some editing capabilities, is a workflow application.
 
I think the OP wants to mass edit pictures. You can do this by using lift and stamp.
