aperture library only give me low res pics, what gives?

I have recently upgraded from iPhoto 11 to Aperture 3.0 and when I go into system preferences to change my background and look though my aperture library and chose a pic, the pic that is displayed on my desktop is a much lower resolution. I have tested all my pics and they all display on the desktop at lower res., my display res is 1680 x 1050 and I have alot of pics at this size. the pics that are being displayed seem to be more around 500 x 500 or something small like that. if i use the exact same photo but not from my aperture library the res is displayed correctly as my background.

So what is up with aperture, am I doing something wrong in a setting in aperture? this issue is very strange

Did you try to repair/rebuild your aperture library as per the Apple KB?

well I tried to repair permissions, repair library and rebuild data base and that didnt fix it.

no one else has this problem?
