Aperture question

Hi all,

I am just starting to use Aperture, transitioning from iPhoto. One question, i have imported my library from iPhoto to Aperture. I choose to leave the iPhoto library in its current location as to not make duplicates. Here is my question, I just added a new photo to my iPhoto library but it is not showing in aperture. How can i update the library in aperture to show the new photo? and in the future, when i import new photos from a camera or my iPhone, should i add them to iPhoto or aperture directly??
