Neither the local store genius or the Apple chat person knew the answer to this: I downloaded the free trial and moved my iPhotos over to it. I am happy enough to buy the program, but if I push the buy button it will cost me $200 compared to $80 at the App store.

It I got the App store version, how hard would it be to transfer the photos from the trial version to the paid one? Or is there a better way?

I'n not sure what Apple was thinking here as this must be causing lots of problems and they haven't given their employees the answers yet.

Just start the app store one and select your old library. Done.

The photo library is a separate file in the Photos folder within your home folder. You won't have to transfer the files anywhere.
