Aperture Vault --> Photos

Anyone know about importing photos from an Aperture Vault to the new Photos program? My hard drive crashed; luckily I was a diligent user of the Vault feature (to external hard drive); but Aperture no longer exists on the new mac I am going to purchase. Can the Photos app import from my Aperture Vault? thank you!!

My understanding is the vault actually IS a library. The trick at this link sounds like you could just change the file extension on the vault package and it would be seen as an Aperture Library, then you should be able to just import that into Photos. I have not tested this myself, so you might want to make a second (backup) copy of the vault before you try this.

Go to the App Store on the new Mac, log into your Apple account, and you should see Aperture available for download on the Purchased pane.
