Aperture vs PS Elements?

I just got the 13" MBA and have switched back from a PC after several years. I used to use PS CS a long time ago but it is too expensive. I've been getting by with an old copy of PS Elements and freeware on the PC.

Now that I have the MBA I need a good photo editor that can handle RAW files. What are the advantages/disadvantages between Aperture and PS Elements on the MBA?

Aperture is far better than Elements. Lightroom and Aperture would be an equal comparisent.
