Just got my new 24" iMac with iWork 08 preinstalled. It also has iLife 08. Should I get Aperture as well? What does it offer over say iPhoto?

What do you want out of your photos software? There may be better apps, photoshop/lightroom. Iphoto may have everything you need. I've never used aperture but do use iphoto & just recently photoshop. If all you need is organizing and basic editing iphoto is a powerful app.

Depends if you can justify the cost. Are you photographer who shoots a lot of RAW images? I don't mean pro photographer, but are you one in general. If you shoot a lot of images, especially that in RAW, programs like Aperture and Lightroom are definitely worth getting. If you don't even know what a RAW file is, iPhoto is more than enough.
