Somehow when my drive was upgraded to Catalina on my MacBookPro it created the following structure.
*Apple SSD SM1024L Media
*Container Disk1
*Macintosh HD
*Macintosh HD - Data
*Macintosh HD - Data - Data
I know it should not be structured this way but it is working, I guess with firmlinks. But my backup program is not finding the lowest level of the Data file and just backing up the " -Data" layer which does not contain much of anything.
Is there a way to fix this easily or is a full back up and format/restore reuired? Thanks in advance.

From the Disk Utility picture you posted, it appears that:
  • Macintosh HD - Data should be named Macintosh HD.
  • Macintosh HD - Data - Data should be named Macintosh HD - Data.
  • Macintosh HD is only 960 KB so not sure why that Volume exists.
What is shown on your Desktop for the drives?

You might need to do a clean install and migrate from backup through Recovery Mode. When you erase the drive make sure to select Apple SSD SM1024L Media in Disk Utility.
