I got a Iomega eGo for Mac External HDD. I like it because a-it's portable b-it was cheap for 500gb and c-It has FireWire.
me being a Linux junkie (second best OS, next to OS X), I wanted to install Ubuntu on it so I could have my personal OS wherever I go.
BUT, I tried to partition it with GParted and, it crashed... Hmm let's go ask Disk Utility why...
It had the Apple Partition Map (APM) on it instead of the GUID Partition Table (GPT)
I Also noticed it had small partitions for what seemed to be drivers for the USB and FireWire ports.
So I was wondering, and yes I know to back up, can I safely reformat it as GPT?
