Hi. I have an Apogee Mic Plus USB microphone and I was hoping I could hook it up to use with my Canon 80D DSLR. I am going to be doing some vlogging. Does anyone know if this can be done? If so, what do I need?

Thanks for your response.

You would do better to ask this in the Canon forums over at dpreview.com.

Having said that, I DON'T think a "USB mic" can be used with the mic input port on a camera like the 80d (I have a 77d). That port is designed to accept a stereo mini plug which would be from a "regular" (non-USB) mic.

There are numerous mics out there designed specifically for this.

I use something different -- a handheld digital recorder with stereo mics (Olympus LS-11). I just connect the headphone out to the camera mic in, turn on the recorder and leave it in "ready", and get good sound into my camera mic port.

Edit:
My 77d has a USB port, and I'm sure the 80d has one as well.
But the only reference that I can find about it in the manual says that it's for downloading images to the computer -- nothing about using it as a "mic in" input.

Thanks for your explanation. I returned the Apogee Mic and went with an XLR mic. Think I've got it figured out.
