So I have a few random questions that might not be related at all, and probably don't only apply to these two devices. I currently have the original (Mac only) ONE, and don't plan on replacing it, this is all just out of curiosity, wanting to know how things work, and for the sake of learning!

I'm pretty dang new to recording audio minus some pretty amateur GarageBand stuff, so detailed answers would be appreciated :)

As far as I know, I can only record from one source at a time using the original ONE, which means I have to choose from either the internal mic, OR the breakout cable to connect an external mic or instrument. One the newer ONE, the Apogee website says it has two preamps, and it is able to record using two different inputs. Is this BECAUSE of the dual preamps? If that's not the case, what prevents the original ONE from doing this? Is it just software? Also, what prevents the original ONE from being able to connect to an iPad in the first place?

Another thing I was curious about was the interface is able to output your recorded audio as well through the 1/8" jack to headphones. What is the benefit of this? Why not just use your headphones through your computer?

I'll probably have more questions after a response comes, but this is it for now. Thanks for the help in advance! :)
