After posting 3 threads on how Safari 3 would crash on two different machines, and having the last post locked, I have found the problem. After reviewing the crash log, which was quite extensive, I found one item relating to Speed Download 3. Since I don't really like that program, I didn't mind trashing it and its associated files and plug-ins. After doing so, Safari behaves normally.
