App Advertising (What Works, What Doesn't)?

Has anyone found any places that they believe to be a great place to advertise iPhone apps? Anything work out for someone that they'd like to share with the rest of us. I've been reading all over the internet looking for something that seems worthwhile and have yet to find anything. Any articles about this all seem to agree that it's extremely difficult without points in much of a direction for help.

If anyone has ideas or has done something that's worked I'd love to hear it and I'm sure others would as well.

You'd be better off posting this in the iPhone Development sub-forum. Since that is the developer specific area, where as this where the general population mingles.
