APP & APM: too quiet?

I love the sound quality of the APM but it seems like the volume was a bit low. At 50% the music is barely audible.

To compare I tried my APP and get similar results: no track is ever “too loud”. Has anyone else found the same? If so, how’d you remedy the situation?

Maybe you have turned on the Sound Check feature, which in general lower the volume

I typically listen to APM around 60-70%. Having ANC or Transparency on will affect the volume, as will Sound Check and listening to Spatial Audio (in Apple Music or compatible video apps). Don't harm your hearing, but don't be afraid to turn them up.

I thought I was the only one. I’ve had my APP’s for a week and the volume seems low. I have check all settings . Is there an app or anything to make them a bit louder?

Nope. Just make sure Sound Check if off and get a good seal with the right sized ear tips.

Is a widespread issue with apple audio gear and apple music, not just Airpods. Apple is aware of this.

I have both APM and APP, and they are very loud to my ears, given, not as loud as I can get my wired better headphones to sound via an amp, but they're still very loud. I can't see any scenario when I would need 100% volume, and I've been flying with both the APPs and the APMs. When I really listen and want it loud, I'm usually at 70-80%, sometimes into the 90's listening to normal sources (some Youtube content can be really low on volume for instance).

I tend to agree, but it depends on what you are listening to. For example, the thing I use my APM for the most is watching TV on my Apple TV. The volume of what I am listening to can vary greatly. For example, if I have them around 70% volume on Netflix or Apple TV+ , that is definitely loud enough. But if I switch to Hulu, I have to crank it to 100%. Music is always way louder than video, so I rarely turn it past 70% when listening to music. I have my first flight coming up next month since 2019, so I am ready to try them out on the plane.

I find APP to be louder and more harsh than the APM.
APM is even lower when wired with the dongle.
