App background play not working iP7 vs iP6

tried to listen to my radio streaming app this morning (CBC radio) and every time I got it playing and closed it, it stopped playing. Pressing play in the control centre did not resume playback.

This works perfectly fine on my iPhone 6S. I just backed up through iTunes and restored my 7 that way, so they should be the exact same, settings-wise. Any ideas?

Reset the phone. Not sure if that will help but I have that exact issue on occasion and a quick reset fixes it.

I think with the 7 you hold the lock + volume down until you see the Apple logo.
