App for converting mp4/mov to animated GIF

I made a movie with QuickTime Pro which is about 6 seconds long now. I want to find an app that can convert it to an animated GIF so as I can make it for an avatar. I would really like one that doesn't dump the quality to that of as grainy as the Sahara, I'd like good quality output.

i think adobe after effects can output to gif if i'm not mistaken i haven't touched it quite some time

Nah, it's 1Gb I don't need on my iMac. And I can save $300 in the prossess.

And cheaper alternatives?
