if I have a fairly long document and I want to find something written in it, possibly multiple times, is there anything i can use to highlight keywords? Does anything go further and give you and overview of the highlights through the whole doc?

here's hoping......

If you are using Word 2008 you could use command-f and check the "Highlight all items found in" box.

I'm sure that most word processors have this feature built in.
