App icon on dock?

Cant see it on mine. I never really used Launchpad. I probably removed it from my dock. I dont really mind as I usually use spotlight or can use a four finger pinch to bring up apps. But I cant see a way to get the icon on the dock. Am I missing something?

just drag the "Apps" icon (in the applications folder) to your dock.
