App or plugin to put Mail.app unread count in menu bar?

I launch all my apps using spotlight and switch using cmd+shift so I really dont need to have the dock visible at all times. The only real reason I keep the dock is to keep track of my mail as I often have to respond to messages immediately. Is there an app that would put this functionality in the menu bar instead or that would create Outlook-like pop-up windows when new mail arrives (and don't suggest Growl because that mess doesn't work). I'd love to hide my dock... Any suggestiuons would be most appreciated!
