Hi guys and gals,
Every time I try to update an already installed app on my iPhone XS max it asks me for my password despite the “Require Password” toggle under FREE DOWNLOADS being turned off.
I restarted the phone a couple of times, toggled the the option on and then off again but the problem still persists.
Anyone else having the same issue?
How do I resolve this issue?

So it’s not just me then. I think it’s an issue on their end.

I’m on iOS 12.3 beta 1. iPhone X.

Been running into some password confirmation requests today. Perhaps there's something going on server-side in relation to the App Store and/or Apple ID in general.

Wife had the same problem on 12.2. She was most annoyed at having to enter a password to download Candy Crush Friends in Space Jelly & Ice Cream Pets Rescue Saga in Space.

I had this happen to me a few iOS releases ago and it was driving me crazy. Toggling that option off/on didn't do anything. It was prompting me for a password every time. I'll try to dig through my notes/emails to see if I made a note of how I fixed it because I can't remember.

Please do!
