So we have the App Store for iPhone/iPod touch applications and very successful it is too.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a Mac applications section too? It would mean the return of the bedroom coder and all the pluses and minuses that entails. Not saying they've ever gone away but applications, especially the niche ones, generally go unnoticed unless you know what your looking for. The App Store would do for them, and the Mac as a whole, what it's done for the iPhone.

How long do you think it will be before Apple adds a Mac Applications section to the App Store, if at all?

If they were to do it, it wouldn't be done through iTunes. It would probably have it's own standalone application.
